Allow me to present a scenario to you…
A new-born baby enters the world and is lovingly cradled by their parent(s), family, and friends. Often, there will be a member in that group that comments that this child ‘has been here before’ or ‘they are clearly an old soul’.
How did they reach that conclusion?
The most common reasons are ‘wise facial features’, ‘their eyes look deep into my soul’ or, ‘there is a depth or knowing to them’.
Maybe you have a young family member who asks questions well beyond their years or displays remarkable understanding to topics or creative pursuits that they have had no previous exposure to.
We hear old soul terminology frequently used when discussing babies and children (often by women or individuals with strong intuition), yet this terminology is also applicable to all ages.
Simply put, old souls exist in all ages and stages.
Our souls are like databases, absorbing and processing experiences and knowledge built up over many lifetimes. The difference between a young soul and an old soul is the number of experiences and wisdom gained from their soul journeys.
If you are an old soul, you may experience some key traits. How many can you identify with?
- Instinctively knowing what to do in certain situations
- Able to understand and discuss subjects or topics that you have no prior knowledge of
- Clarity in your eyes
- Recall memories of events that you have not been exposed to in this life
- Feel older than you are
- Prefer to socialise and feel more comfortable with those older than yourself
- Favour spending time alone to reflect rather than socialise regularly
- Experience a sense of frustration when you are ‘treated like a child’ (even if you are one)
- Enjoy deep and meaningful conversations rather than superficial chat
- Feel frustrated over the way some people do things or frustrated with humanity (‘Isn’t it obvious that wont work? ‘Why can’t they see what they are doing?’)
- Deep thinkers
- Have a fondness for another period in history
- Dress or display mannerisms and quirks from another time
- Use language (eloquence or slang) not common to your current life
- Fixated on an historical event
- Prefer eating a foreign food than local food.
- Enjoy being around certain nationalities.
- Exhibit fears from unknown sources (a fear of water or drowning when you live inland or had never experienced water issues before)
- Can bring up information that cannot be explained (how people used to act or how to use equipment from another lifetime
- Repetitive dreams of people or places you haven’t been to
- Instinctual knowing of meeting someone and feeling as if you’ve been together before (I know you, but we haven’t met before)
- Feel a strong to desire to contribute or further humanities growth through education, support, healing or protecting people, animals and/ or the environment
Old souls recognise other old souls by the way they look, act, and speak.
Can you relate to any of these traits? Please let me know in the comment box below.
