One aspect we can all agree on and is guaranteed to occur in life is change.
This may unfold around us, to us or within us. Change may be sudden or gradual, subtle or impactful. However, it presents to us, can influence how we respond.
For some, change is welcomed, and they openly embrace the new energy it brings into their life. These people often drive the change to occur enabling them to feel more empowered and more resilient when change presents itself. Others seek the stability of consistency and find change on any level challenging. If you find yourself in this category, then this blog may help you to move from fear to momentum.
Fear can either motivate or hinder; lets encourage action so you can feel empowered through change. Here are five steps that will help you refocus and re-evaluate your next moves.
Set your intention – The power of intention enables you to take the first step. Is your intention to find a solution? To grow through the process? To see the bigger picture of the situation? Or to regain a sense of control or clarity? Once you have set your intention, can you feel in your body a shift in energy already?
Reflect on why – Asking yourself the question why you are responding to change in the way you do enables you a clearer pathway forward. Does change invoke a feeling of fear within you? If so, what is the trigger that makes you feel unsafe? Does change invoke a sense of overwhelm? In this case, your mind is seeking stabilisation by racing through possible scenarios without a framework to create a sense of safety.
Prioritise you-time – This step is especially important as you work through a deeper understanding of your wants and needs, especially if external distractions are present, such as placing the needs of others before yourself. Making time to meditate, journal, and reflect on the big picture will provide a fresh perspective and a more balanced approach to the situation at hand.
Set goals – Creating goals is important to achieve forward momentum, as it enables you to feel empowered (because they are YOUR goals) and gaining a sense of achievement as you complete them. Goal setting is best created into categories, short-term goals, and long-term goals. Short-term goals may be small and easily achievable and build your confidence; whereas long-term goals are often bigger and require more time or effort to achieve. Are your goals personal or joint goals with another?
Goals act like tethers that stabilise our lives and help us feel more secure through uncertain times. If you lack goals, you lack direction and purpose. If you are unsure about WHAT your goals should be, then consider how you would like to feel in the future. Would you like to feel abundant? Healthier? More successful? More adventurous? More peaceful? Once you know this, then creating the steps towards this becomes easier because you have a target to move towards.
Action – Goals without action are only dreams. Taking the first step, whether it be big or small, immediately creates momentum. There is no right or wrong in taking these first steps; just begin. If you have worked through the previous four steps, then each step you take in the action process will feel more confident and secure. Remember to factor in an element of flexibility to maximise opportunities and minimise limiting your options.
I wish you success in taking action and creating goals. Have an amazing month ahead with all the opportunities this momentum brings into your life.
