I thought I would cover the above topic this month as has been a highlighted theme that’s surfaced of late.
Some people love being consistently in the spotlight while other prefer to support from the shadows. The majority of people enjoy manoeuvring between the two. It is when we are bounced within these spaces without feeling in control or safe, that our spirit and wellbeing feel compromised. As we are light bodies within our skin, our light can be diminished and enhanced easily. However, with mindful immersion, we can place ourselves in environments where light can easily support us.
Light has a wonderful way of supporting our mood (setting the mood), by calming us down, lifting us up, highlighting what we need, and diffusing an overloaded environment.
Many people have asked about the first two mentioned above, what they can do that is easy and accessible in a limited environment and on a limited budget.
They may desire feeling more uplifted or calmer due to constant fatigue or excessive stress. This often results in our spirit feeling less than normal, lacking a sense of direction or hopefulness.
Let’s take a look at 5 simple ways to introduce light and enhance your spirit.
To Rebalance – embracing the light offered by a sunrise and sunset honours your spirit through the light spectrums these times of the day bring. The colour spectrums of sunrise and sunset support our lower three chakras (base, sacral and solar plexus regions) helping us to feel more safe, centred and balanced.
Sunlight intensities during varying times of the day provide a more intense dose of spiritual boost when received in an unfiltered form. More filtered or dappled light enables you to mange the level of light your expose yourself to therefore utilise the filtration process of water, trees and cloud to achieve the level of light you desire.
What time of the day attracts you?
To Calm – soft lighting encourages a soothing support to the nervous system and calming of the mind. Candlelight, soft wall lighting and soft colour hues through the use of coloured glass or fabrics are a few examples. Applying this technique with the intention to calm your system down will reactivate a more mindful, relaxed experience. Himalayan salt lamps offer a warm, orange light that inspires a nurturing, supportive space/environment and are a popular option for many. Light therapy is also an excellent healing option to soothe the skin and reduce inflammation.
To Energise – when your spirit calls for energisation, expose it to vibrant light that offers a colour spectrum of your choosing. This may shift from day to day. Light movement also helps to activate an energetic vibe such as light reflecting off water onto a wall or ceiling,
To Inspire – if your spirit is craving inspiration, introduce colour to activate this process. Prismatic light from hanging crystals, stained glass windows, mirrored ornaments that move and shift the light to form different shapes will stir the spirit. Walking in forests with dappled light marries the calming colours of nature with the vibrancy of sunlight is a popular activity.
To Reflect – a gentle, reflective light from plants, water, walls, and natural environments with a calming colour palette activate this for the spirit. Light from stars and the moon in the night sky, aurora lights etc provide a stable and gentle backdrop for a reflective experience. So, tilt your blinds or redirect the light to create the perfect ambience you require to reflect.
The above list provides a guideline that can be personalised and refined to suit your individual requirements.
Introducing light to mindfully support your spirit in everyday activities will elevate your feeling of wellbeing and help you achieve balance.
