It is easy to take personal energy for granted, especially when we have it in abundance, but what if you do not?
Personal ownership over your energy is a large part of regaining balance in your life and feeling more empowered.
This entails understanding key formulas that will remain front of mind when it counts.
The following two gems were given to me from Archangel Michael over twenty years ago and became key to maintaining and thriving in my personal energy.
1. Treat your Energy like a Bank Account
It sounds simple and it is! Understanding how to balance your energy bank account will provide you with the resources you require to make good choices when you need to. So how does it work?
Energetic Overdraft
Imagine you have been born with an ATM card that accesses your energy bank account. If you have an abundant supply of energy in your account, a little spending here and there will not matter…will it?
Most people find this information powerful when they are already running into energetic overdraft. They present symptoms similar to a financial overdraft situation – anxiety, stress, panic and helplessness.
The closest way to describe this feeling in a tangible form is when we are in the supermarket or a store needing to pay for items that are important. As the items are being scanned, we hope and pray there is enough money in the account to cover the goods. Most of us have been there…
Some of you will read this and really relate, while others may say ‘I would never put myself in that financial situation!’ That may be true and yet energetically this scenario may be playing out in your life. If you feel it is, here are some pointers.
Energetic expenditure can present itself through-
Physical activity. Being active is important, however over activity or pushing our body to extremes without listening to key warning signs indicates an energy overdraft scenario.
Why?
This indicates other drivers are in place (such as the internal mind or external influences) creating an ‘energetic bleed’ on more than one level. This may be manageable in the short term yet unsustainable if ongoing and undetectable. It can also lead to other personal energetic structures such as mental clarity or emotional stability collapsing as a result.
Often, physical energetic symptoms are the result of long term mental and/or emotional turmoil.
Mental activity. This is a big one. Our minds are fantastic if they are focused when required and creative when they need to be.
However, when we overthink, stress or are unable to find a solution to a problem, this creates a massive expenditure in our energetic bank account.
Providing guidelines and structures in your life to enable your thoughts to be expressed in sound ways are important. Goal setting and journaling are great ways to structure your thoughts. Meditation, creative activities, talking with others and physical activities are wonderful to help release your thoughts. Discovering what works for you will enable you to feel more energised. Little adjustments in your life can have big results.
Emotional activity. Emotional suppression or over-management can greatly impact our energy and drive our energetic bank account into overdraft very quickly.
Emotions can be quickly suppressed or condensed in any given moment, especially when they cannot be articulated or expressed.
If left to compound, our emotions can become a major energy drain on our system leaving us tired or listless. Often mental activity adds to this process and our energetic overdraft increases exponentially.
It does not take long for one or more of these energetic expenditures to move into overdrive. The good news is, for the most part we can identify the cause and correct it.
So how can we turn this around?
Energetic Deposits
Energetic deposits are vital if we need or desire to spend personal energy.
So how do we do this?
Manage personal energetic spending. Differentiate between what are healthy energetic investments versus frivolous expenditures. Both have their places; it comes down to getting the formula right for you.
Nature. Spending time in nature and around animals will often provide a massive top up of your energy bank account. Nature has a way of balancing out your own personal energy without taking anything away from you. This is a plus if you need a fast track deposit so seek out a beach, park or forest, whatever feeds your soul.
Surround yourself with uplifting people. Laughter, positivity, love and support. They are tried and true healthy investments.
Morals and ethics alignment. If you are compromising on your personal morals and ethics, your energetic bank account will take a massive nosedive. It is important to factor this into your energy budget when you are selecting friends, jobs or relationships.
Exercise. Any physical movement will burn off excess energy, including a backlog of unhealthy energy. This is a healthy prescription to balance your energy books.
Music. Music has a way of cutting through any energy blocks as it is a way, we can express our feelings and thoughts without having to analyse them. Our bodies are able to rebalance naturally as there is music to match where we are energetically at, at any given time.
Nutrition. Certain foods can bring our vibrations down quickly. Determining which foods make you feel uplifted versus challenged will make a big difference to managing your energy levels. Two points to consider –
• What works for one person, may not work for you. Seek medical advice if you need to.
• Balance is the key here…some foods make you feel great in the short term yet terrible in the long term. Getting the balance right will help you balance your energy bank account.
Creativity. You may find expressing yourself through singing, art, gardening, cooking (to name a few) is the perfect was to rebalance your books. This form of deposit is great as it works on revitalising mind, body and soul for some people…maybe you are one of them?
There are many other deposits that can be accessed to replenish your energy bank account. Half of the fun is finding the ones that work for you.
2. Apprentice versus Perfectionist
Traits of a Perfectionist
The Perfectionist mindset is commonplace and often not always obvious to the outside world.
The Perfectionist mindset strives to achieve and succeed (often at a high personal cost) and can limit the conscious mind from becoming all it can be. Through fear of failure, the perfectionist mind becomes the slave to countless self-imposed limitations to avoid this experience or labelling.
The inner critic is a formidable foe and may be granted unlimited power within the perfectionist mindset. The outcome can be a dangerous one for the perfectionist as well as those around him/her. Expectations can be unrealistic and unbalanced if the inner critic is granted free reign.
A cycle of often silent and unbalanced personal chaos begins and consequently takes a large toll on a perfectionist’s personal energetic system. In order to manage this internal chaos, the perfectionist attempts to control situations around them to provide a sense of stability.
The personal energetic system of this mindset often becomes locked down and blocked without the freedom to feel free and enjoy the process.
The need to self-manage their world in all forms becomes vital.
The path of the perfectionist can often lead to burn out due to the imbalance of extreme usage of energy within a prolonged timeframe period.
On the positive side, a perfectionist has a wonderful ability to goal set, prioritise, focus on the task at hand and multitask where necessary.
These are fantastic traits if they are utilised wisely and for allocated periods of time. The desire to achieve is still met while remaining open to others ideas and support. This enables the perfectionist’s energy reserves to replenish between applications.
Traits of an Apprentice
In comparison, the Apprentice mindset is granted permission to learn through the experience of failure, without the internal criticism that the Perfectionist experiences.
A ‘Learning on the job’ mentality enables the apprentice to enjoy the present moment, lessen long term anxiety and have permission to breathe through the learning.
Being receptive to other’s ideas and assistance when required is a key trait for this mindset.
The Apprentice mindset can fall into the pattern of reliance of others and a lack of confidence in their own abilities. They may lose momentum or drive, feeling as if they are following blindly in the path of others rather than empowered on their own path.
The key is recognising what trait you operate under.
Are you operating as a mild, medium or strong representative of that trait? How much energy do you apply to everyday situations within an average week? If you are replenishing, that is great. However, if you are struggling energetically, it may be time to review what trait you naturally fall into and if it is working for you?
From an energetic perspective, it is important to recognise when to apply the unique strengths of these two different mindsets in our lives and when they may be detrimental to our energy reserves at any given time.
Whatever your mindset, utilise it mindfully in your life and guide it wisely. That way your energy levels will always have a reserve available.
